Our initial assumptions of Veren have proven us wrong time and again. It would seem that it is not as fractious a mass as we first thought. There are in some areas, larger islands. Our assessment is that the larger the island mass, the larger the beasts that have emerged on them. Isolated, without competition, they have thrived. Among them are the great birds at the canopy tops of the jungles.
The towering jungles of Veren are home to many a treetop species. Canopy guardians guard vast swaths of jungle canopy surfaces from predators that roam the skies above. Many know of the one they call Proudbeak, guardian of the Calanti Trevass, but there is another.
Tantalos, Treetop King, moved up the pecking order of his clan, by being the most prolific guardian of the Yulinar Straight. It was a quick climb up the ranks that not only brought on the resentment of other mega-toucans, but also the wrath of the rival clan, particularly, Proudbeak himself. However, his climb was for good reason. The skies above his swath of canopy are the most peaceful ones. His ferocity is unrivaled both above and below the tree line. He has come to be known as the First Guardian of the Jungle, out performing Proudbeak and lesser beasts.
We have sent our best climbers and are glad to report that they have returned unharmed. It would seem these great birds have a singular focus, rival beasts. Particularly aerial ones.
